Shut x Down is a compact program that can be used to shut down, log off, or restart your computer after a set amount of time or at a given date and time. This is particularly useful when you're using a notebook and need to leave but want some operation to complete. It also includes a stopwatch to time whatever you want. It's very efficient and reliable and it won't waste your system resources or give pointless add-ons.
Shut x Down was written in a couple of hours for a friend in August of 2006. Once it was finished we put it away for a while only to come back and do a couple of updates. Because of the small size, limited features, and the fact that it worked when it felt like it, we decided to distribute it here for free. After several weeks of only a couple of downloads, we got noticed by several websites. The following three days produced over 1000 downloads. The bad news... they were hot linking the files and eating up our bandwidth. Not only that but inside the program there was no mention of who we were (because we never thought it would be that big) so users couldn't find us again if they even knew we existed to begin with. Because of its tremendous success in that brief period of time we decided to remake the program from the ground up. We are pleased to offer a fully function program now that has a professional appearance and will work every time. It's trustworthy and free, there's really no downsides. |
